VISION
source:
illuminate is our response to God's love in Jesus Christ
encounter:
our aim is to honestly seek and encounter God
radiate:
illuminate is a vision to see faith lived out
Source: The starting point is what God has done for us through Jesus Christ, to bring us back to him. He has called us to follow Him and share the good news.
Encounter: That people might understand what Jesus has done through our proclamation and the Holy Spirit’s guidance
Radiate: That we might all be light in the world, living lives of worship
Our Strategy:
Illuminate Events:
- To hold events throughout the year aimed at young people and students (16-25 years)
- To proclaim the Gospel through music, visuals and word.
- Music: the illuminate band will lead with contemporary Christian music
- Visuals: using video to share Gospel truths in a creative and engaging way
- Word: explaining the significance of the Bible for today’s culture.
- To share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who don’t yet believe
- To live lives worthy of our calling and proclaim all that Christ has done
- To encourage all to go out and live as light in this world
- Being part of a local church
- Being witnesses in daily lives
Light in Action:
- To bring practical help to local communities
- To be a presence of light in these communities
Illuminate Doctrinal Basis of Faith
We believe...
God
There is one true God who lives eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that He is sovereign in creating, sustaining, ruling, redeeming and judging the world, and that the Lord Jesus Christ, God's incarnate Son, is fully God; he was born of a virgin; his humanity is real and sinless; He died on the cross to reconcile sinners to God, He was raised bodily from death and is now reigning over heaven and earth, and will one day return to judge all.
Bible
The Bible, as originally given, is the divinely inspired and the perfect Word of God and has ultimate authority for all faith and conduct.
Humankind
All humankind was made in God’s image, but because of the fall is tainted by sin. It is only through the death of Christ: dying in our place, paying the price of sin, and defeating evil, that God reconciles us to Himself, by grace through faith. The Holy Spirit works in us, making what Christ has done effective to individuals as they turn to God and trust in Jesus, and so works in us so that we become increasingly like Jesus in character and behaviour, to live as witnesses in the world. There is one holy universal church – the Body of Christ – to which all true believers belong, and by the Spirit’s gifts will worship God, proclaim the gospel, and promote justice and love.
